More Money Won’t Make You a Better Person. Stop Thinking That Way
Here’s how to use the money to live a better life
If you have $0 saved up or live paycheck to paycheck, you can either let your money fears control your life or focus on making more money.
You may think that when I get that first million dollars, then I will become a better father or start working out. Wrong.
People who think like this are using money as an “excuse” to put off what they can do with $0.
You don’t need money to be a better person.
Money doesn’t solve all problems. Money is just an amplifier for what you were before.
If you have relationship problems, it only increases when you make a lot more money. Because you have different ideas about how and what to do.
If you were already a good person and you make a lot more money, you may think that you don’t need a lot of money to live and give to other people.
Or if you already didn’t care about anyone, more money will only make you more selfish.
You give what you get, and then you get what you give
Law of return. Karma.
It’s easy to talk about money because everybody has a relationship with it, but they forget that if “I only have X dollars, then I will do YZ”.
Money is great because it solves some problems, you can throw money at a lot of problems and it gets a little easier.
But money doesn’t solve emotional problems.
Take a deep breath, Identify, observe and then start looking at solving the emotional issue. More money will not solve it.
Observe how you feel
You may be able to resolve a problematic attachment to life. You may learn to live with it and realize that now I feel this way.
You don’t have to solve something that is not broken. You must focus on what is keeping you from getting where you want to go in life. Start working on it.
Things are not always what they seem. And it’s all right
Some problems you can just throw money at and they will be solved.
What we need to develop at the same time to experience a rich and wonderful life are interpersonal relationships with ourselves and other people.
Money is just energy and time, but it doesn’t solve relationship problems. Nor does it help you to be more creative.
I had a friend who said “When I get 100,000 Euros, then I’m going to buy a house on the west coast of Portugal, I’m going to invite all my friends there. I’ll look better and walk around in a linen shirt and offer seafood.”
Do you have to earn or save 100,000 euros to do this?
You can rent a house on the west coast of Portugal this summer and see what it’s like.
This is how I use money
In my personal life, money is great for creating lots of positive emotions. I am far away from dramas.
A few years ago, I would be able to light up a cigarette if my stock portfolio had dropped 0.1%.
This is emotional volatility when your emotions move in sync with the stock market. Once again the money didn’t change me here. On the contrary, it made me more anxious about the stock market.
Use the money to generate positive feelings
Happiness is a myth created by Beverly Hills girls.
When we are not as happy as we think we should be, we become more unhappy than we really are.
Life can be much easier than we pretend it is.
Believing that we don’t need to be super happy all the time allows us to be happier.
A job doesn’t just mean money and finances, but another currency that you would like to have and that is social contacts, routines, and that you feel are contributing to social development. It is the connection with other people that matters.
At the end of the day, feelings are the ultimate goal, money and that fast-moving car can sometimes be a shortcut to feelings.
