You are what you eat. I have an estimate of how much I spend on food every month.

I usually go shopping on Saturdays but there are also Saturdays I don’t go when I still have enough onions/knives, carrots, and tomatoes left over from the previous purchase.

I have so many blackberries that I even freeze them because I can’t eat them all. There is also enough lettuce available.

But I also have weeks when I still have enough fresh supplies from the previous week and skip the weekly store.

With microwaves it is even more varied — but there are also many things that taste good cold and don’t need a refrigerator in the office. Many things can be cooked in large quantities and canned or frozen.

Bought a 500g package of mushrooms but only used 250g? Dehydrate or freeze the remaining mushrooms. Lots of apples? Dehydrate them, and make jam.

I have separated the clothes for spring, autumn, winter, and summer.

When the respective season starts, I check my closet and see if I really need something because the old one doesn’t fit me anymore or has become irreparable: only what is really on my need list is bought when I see something like this.

This year I bought a new pair of black shorts because the old ones broke last summer and I really missed them.

This year I am buying a warm coat for the winter because I really missed a warm coat last year when it was 20 degrees below zero.

What seems so easy is not so easy to implement in reality. I tried to do this myself once and was surprised to find that it was very difficult for me not to spend any money in a week.
