Reading About Money Can Change Your Life Forever

Reading about money changed my life, and it can change yours too

There isn’t

You Can’t

I don’t have

These three expressions were favorites and the most used in my family.

I grew up in an environment where it was always said that money would bring problems and that it was not enough.

But where do these beliefs come from?

Let’s go back a few years:

My great-grandfather grew up in a family with some assets. He lived in a very large village with planters, flowers, fountains, stables, farms, a terrace, and everything was very good.

My great-grandfather was not the “ideal” son. He was always against the rules, didn’t like being told what to do, and was constantly arguing with his parents (i.e. my great-great-grandparents). There were several fights in the family, and my great-grandfather decided to move away for good.

He left his village and property that he inherited from his parents to start from scratch. No money, no house, no income, nothing. He settled in a small town, where my grandmother Paula would be born several years later.

My grandmother tells me that the emotions experienced in her humble home where she grew up were:

  • Discomfort

  • Financial scarcity

  • Rejection

She grew up hearing that there was not enough money. Financial matters were handled in a non-philosophically correct way, and she unconsciously passed these thoughts on to her children (i.e. my mother and uncles).

And then I was born. Repeating the same inherited speech from generation to generation.

I believed everything I heard and it worried me a lot to see how my parents were so stressed about financial issues until one of the most revealing moments of my life came.

Starting to Read Changed My Life

I found an article that said:

“Beliefs should be questioned. There are many thoughts that claim to be true without having verified their veracity. The mistake is that we make them ours, integrate them, reproduce them, and end up working from that belief.

Then I started to observe the mental habits of my family:

My grandmother used to say that “she has no money,” but I never saw that her purse was empty.

My father also says “he has no money”, but fortunately he always has new projects on the horizon.

My mother says she “has no money,” but she is an expert at managing household expenses.

My uncles say they “have no money”, but every Sunday they buy ice cream and popsicles for everyone.

I say “I have no money”, but in reality I do, and it is enough for me.

After I realized this, my life was not the same again.

  • I started reading and reading and reading about the limiting beliefs that are inherited.

  • I started writing in my journals and social media.

  • I started to see with eyes of love everything that has to do with money and from that my life changed.

I must admit that this “change in my financial brain” was a great challenge. Changing the speech, getting unused, and creating a new reality is not something that changes overnight. It takes a lot of self-discipline.

Today I know that it is not my responsibility to change the beliefs of my entire family. My only responsibility is to change what is not doing me any good, so I question myself all the time and feed my financial brain positively.

Along the way, I have learned that:

  • Money doesn’t need to be a problem in my life.

  • I know that within me is all the power to create the life I desire.

  • We have to do a review of our family tree, there are many answers.

I don’t judge my ancestors because I know they did what they could with what they had.

Things and opportunities won’t magically come, you have to look for them, get out of complaining and work for what you want.

And finally, it’s always a good time to think differently and start over for your sake and for the sake of the generations that will come after you.

Cheers,

Paulo
